An unidentified American Airlines pilot sprung into action when a drunk passenger allegedly attacked his crew members.
Cell phone footage posted by the Charlotte Observer shows the pilot tackling Michael Allen Kerr and telling him, "You don't put your hands on my flight attendant" after their flight landed in Charlotte on July 21.
Kerr allegedly drank three servings of Jack Daniels whiskey during the flight from Lexington, Kentucky, then refused to follow the crew's instructions to stay in his seat while the plane made its way to the gate.
Instead, the footage -- filmed by another passenger -- shows Kerr trying to push his way past the flight attendants.
According to the Observer, Kerr kicked one of the attendants in the leg and shoved her to the floor, which has required her to seek physical therapy after the encounter.
"She's as angry as anyone would be, but she's also very forgiving," said a friend of the flight attendant, Tanise Love. "I don't think she's so much focused on the assailant or his wrongdoing, she's just focused on getting better."
Kerr appeared in court Monday and was charged with interfering with the performance or duties of a flight crew member or flight attendant, a federal offense. He was released on $25,000 bail. The Daily Beast reported that two days after the incident, the suspect announced his engagement to his partner.
