'Duck Dynasty' star says Trump has a get-out-of-jail-free card for all scandals: Jesus

It goes without saying that presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has a lot of personal baggage.

That said, Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson believes Trump has a simple way to absolve himself of all his past scandals in one fell swoop: Come to Jesus and get born again.

In a video posted by Right Wing Watch, Robertson says that all of Trump's past sins could be forgiven and forgotten in a snap if he just makes a high-profile conversion to Evangelical Christianity.

"If he but be born again, he could then tell them, 'That's the old me, I've been born again, this is the new Donald Trump,'" Robertson said.

Robertson also fantasized about being the person who officially brought Trump to Jesus, and imagined being named The Donald's "spiritual adviser" in his White House.

"Now, that would send a shock wave through America," he said. "The left-wingers would be jumping out of buildings... I don't even know if that's possible or not, but it's just a thought."

The problem, however, is that many people would expect to see a post-conversion Trump behave differently than a pre-conversion Trump.

Would the "new" Trump really be able to refrain from mocking people with disabilities, from calling women "bimbos" and from running scam universities designed to squeeze money from desperate people?

Only the Lord knows for certain.
