Trump agrees to put $5.5 million into court-controlled account after E. Jean Carroll judgment: report
June 23, 2023
Legal teams for Donald Trump and E. Jean Carroll have reached an agreement in which the former president would transfer $5.5 million to a court-controlled account in a first move towards paying jury-ordered damages.
The agreement was sent before a judge to sign off on Friday, CNN reported.
Damages of $5 million were ordered after a civil jury in May found Trump liable of sexually abusing and defaming Carroll.
The cash would be on hold in the account while Trump appeals the jury’s judgment.
A second defamation suit filed by Carroll against Trump is scheduled to go to trial next year.
