Carroll case judge lays out what Trump can't say on stand — and orders him to stick to it

Before Donald Trump took the stand Thursday, Judge Lewis Kaplan outlined some ground rules.

MSNBC and Matthew Russell Lee from Inner City Press captured some of the orders from Kaplan.

Habba said, "You say you want me to tell you what he's going to say? He's going to deny these allegations."

"The jury unanimously concluded that you sexually assaulted her, and his claim that he did not was false and defamatory," Kaplan said, according to MSNBC's Yasmin Vossoughian. "There are no do-overs, a prior action cannot be relitigated. Trump sexually abused Ms. Carroll.

"... And he goes on. He's kind of laying out the ground rules to which there would be testimony allowed from the former president."

"Ms. Carroll did not make up her claim," the judge explained according to Lee. "And that Mr. Trump’s June 11 and June 22 statements were defamatory. Now Mr. Trump may not make any argument against this. Ms. Carroll adhered to the Court’s rulings. [Carroll's lawyer] Ms. [Roberta] Kaplan ... questioned if Mr. Trump could offer any admissible testimony. Ms. Habba, you said he could testify about the reporters’ questions and if he was acting with ill will."

Trump appeared "agitated" as Habba and the judge spoke.

"I've never met this woman!" Trump yelled during the debate.
