Ed Schultz: Wisconsin a template for fighting Citizens United decision

MSNBC host Ed Schultz praised Wisconsinites on Monday on the eve of recall elections for six Republican state senators.

"I believe Wisconsin offers up the template to fight back against Citizens United," he said. The Citizens United vs. FEC case overturned generations of U.S. campaign law that limited corporate donations and required the identity of donors be disclosed.

"These Americans here in Wisconsin, they've done the due diligence, they have fought back against a radical agenda, maybe they didn't know what they were voting for in November of 2010, but in January of 2010, they found out exactly what they had voted for," Schultz added.

The six Republican state senators were recalled after supporting Republican Gov. Scott Walker's controversial "budget repair bill," which stripped nearly all collective bargaining rights from public employees. Democrats need to pick up three additional seats to gain a majority in the state Senate.

"Tomorrow we are going to find out a lot," Schultz noted.
