El Flácido: Trump promises radio host 'quite a bit of softening' after harsh immigration speech

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Thursday followed up his hardline immigration speech by promising "quite a bit of softening" on immigration.

In his first interview after a speech that doubled down on harsh immigration policies, Trump told conservative radio host Laura Ingraham that his policies would soften "at a later date."

"Oh, there's softening," Trump insisted. "Look, we do it in a very humane way, and we're going to see with the people that are in the country. Obviously I want to get the gang members out, the drug peddlers out, I want to get the drug dealers out."

"And then we're going to make a decision at a later date once everything is stabilized," he continued. "I think you're going to see quite a bit of softening. I feel strongly, but I have to feel strongly that we stabilize the border... otherwise we don't have a country."
