Rep. Elise Stefanik's (R-NY) nomination to be President Donald Trump's ambassador to the United Nations is reportedly "in jeopardy" amid fears among Republicans that they could lose control of the House of Representatives.
CBS News reports that "multiple sources" have indicated that "there are ongoing discussions about whether she should withdraw from consideration" to be UN ambassador as the GOP clings to a narrow majority in the House that could be lowered further by upcoming special elections in Florida.
Although CBS News didn't quote any Republicans who were worried about losing Stefanik's seat, there have been multiple indications in recent weeks about the political grounds shifting back toward Democrats.

Just this week, for instance, Democrats won in a state senate race in Pennsylvania in a district that Trump carried by 15 points last fall.
Additionally, recent polling has shown Trump-endorsed House candidate Randy Fine only winning next month's special election by just four points even after Trump won it by 30 points last year.
Leah Greenberg, the cofounder of progressive activist organization Indivisible, observed on BlueSky that "the headline here is that Republicans are worried about having a special election in a seat that Trump won 60-40."
CBS News reporter Scott MacFarlane adds that "some Democrats were bullish on making a run at this upstate New York seat in a special election" given that there is a "huge number of federal workers and military there" who could be impacted by the mass firings being enacted by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency.
