WATCH: Emma González brings #MarchForOurLives to tears

Marjory Stoneman Douglas student Emma Gonzalez sat quietly behind the lectern at March for Our Lives in the nation's capitol, tears running down her face, as she gave one of the most powerful presentations of the day.

The activist, recently featured on the cover of Time magazine, made a powerful case for gun control after losing her friends in the Parkland school shooting massacre.

"Six minutes and about 20 seconds. In a little over six minutes, 17 of our friends were taken from us, 15 were injured and everyone -- absolutely everyone -- in the Douglas community was forever altered," González reminded. "Everyone who was there understands."

"Everyone who has been touched by the cold grip of gun violence understands," she continued.

"No one could comprehend the devastating aftermath or how far this would reach or where this would go. For those who still can't comprehend because they refuse to, I'll tell you where it went: right into the ground, six feet deep," González continued. "Six minutes and 20 seconds with an AR-15 ..."

After remembering the victims and what they would never do again, González paused.

Minutes passed as she stood defiantly, with tears running down her face.

As she continued to refuse speaking, the crowd began chanting, "Never Again!"

"Since the time that I came out here, it has been six minutes and 20 seconds. The shooter has ceased shooting and will soon abandon his rifle, blend in with the students as they escape and walk free for an hour before arrest," she explained. "Fight for your lives before it's someone else's job!"
