Proud Boys leader asks to be let out of DC jail while citing prison's poor physical condition

Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio is asking to be let out of prison so that he can serve out the rest of his sentence under home confinement.

NBC 4 Washington's Scott MacFarlane reports that "Tarrio cites, among other things, concerns about physical conditions and safety inside" the Washington D.C. jail where he's currently residing.

Many jailed Capitol rioters have complained about conditions inside the jail, and MacFarlane notes that they are now "seizing on a recent U.S. Marshals inspection alleging substandard conditions in DC jail complex, including standing sewage and water/food problems."

Tarrio was sentenced to jail earlier this year after he admitted in court that he tore down and burned a Black Lives Matter flag that was on display at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Washington D.C. in the days leading up to the January 6th Capitol riots.

Tarrio is currently scheduled to be released next year in late January.
