Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt was finally ousted Thursday, and the employees of the agency couldn't be more happy.
One of the most scandal-plagued members of President Donald Trump's cabinet, Pruitt's unethical behavior was outed time after time thanks, in part, to leaks and whistleblowers giving information to the media.
According to Robin Bravender, Climatewire deputy editor at E&E News, one career staffer revealed, "It was very openly celebratory" in the halls of EPA today.
Zack Colman, White House reporter for E&E News, noted that the EPA still had not formally been told about the resignation as of close of business Thursday.
While on Air Force One en route to Montana, Trump told the media that there was no "final straw" for Pruitt.
“He came to me and he said look I have such great confidence in the administration I don’t want to be a distraction and I think Scott felt that he was a distraction," Trump said. “It was very much up to him.”
