Even the Dictionary is mocking Roseanne for blaming her racist tirade on Ambien

During a middle-of-the-night Twitter spree in which she tried to account for comparing an African-American former White House official to an ape, newly-fired ABC star Roseanne Barr at one point claimed she'd been under the influence of the sleep medication Ambien when she made the regretful remark.

"guys I did something unforgiveable [sic]so do not defend me. It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defended-it was egregious Indefensible," Barr tweeted early Wednesday morning. "I made a mistake I wish I hadn't but…don't defend it please."

Though her post is gone from Twitter, it hasn't been forgotten by the site's denizens — many of whom found hilarity in the claim that a sleeping pill could somehow make one a racist.

"I have only taken Ambien once," CNN's John Berman tweeted, "but I don't remember one of the side-effects being racism."

Other still took the opportunity to make jokes tying the drug to the Ku Klux Klan and the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia last summer.
