"Fox & Friends" hosts suggested NFL players obeyed President Donald Trump's order to stand for the national anthem at the Super Bowl.
No Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots players kneeled during the "Star-Spangled Banner," which the president has railed against for most of the season, and Fox News hosts implied causation.
"Everyone stood, and that is the headline this morning," said host Ainsley Earhardt. "So glad to see that."
Co-host host Steve Doocy agreed the Super Bowl had sufficiently celebrated military service, which he credited to Trump.
"The president of the United States sent out a tweet, and the message was clear," Doocy said.
Earhardt read from Trump's statement, saying "their sacrifice is stitched into each star and every stripe of our star-spangled banner. We hold them in our hearts and thank them for our freedom as we proudly stand for the national anthem."
Co-host Brian Kilmeade breathed a sigh of relief.
"We got a brief respite from the political process," Kilmeade said. "In fact, most of the ads I thought were more humorous. Last year they were a little bit more political."
Trump thanked the Fox News hosts a short time later on Twitter.
