Ex-cop drank poison in court as jury foreman read guilty verdict for molesting 9-year-old family member

Faced with the prospect of life in prison for molesting a 9-year-old family member, a former DeKalb County police officer drank poison as the jury foremen read his guilty verdict, the Constitution Journal reported.

Kelless Twohearts Lory, 58, retired from the Chamblee Police Department at the time of the crimes -- dating back to between July 2011 and July 2012.

On Thursday, he was convicted of two counts of aggravated child molestation and two counts of child molestation after a trial in which the young girl he assaulted took the stand.

According to police, Lory drank something from an over-the-counter vitamin bottle as the verdict was handed down, with police discovering it was poison after they took him into custody and transported him to jail.

The ex-cop was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Upon release from the hospital, Lory is facing the prospect of two life sentences plus 40 years.
