Ex-US attorney unloads on Bill Barr for playing ‘hide the ball' with damning information about Trump

Former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner told MSNBC on Thursday that Attorney General Bill Barr and the Department of Justice were playing games with "damning" information in the Mueller report that implicates President Donald Trump in a variety of shady dealings -- and that those shenanigans would soon be coming to an end.

"Everybody, I think, is thirsty for not just information, but accurate information about what the Mueller probe uncovered, as far as potential presidential misconduct, collusion, obstruction," said Kirschner. "I think what we've seen in the reporting over the last 24 hours is there are apparently members of the Mueller team who are becoming more and more concerned, so much so that they are now willing to sort of break ranks and talk, if only anonymously, about how they disagree with Barr's characterization."

"I do feel like the release of the report is gaining some momentum," Kirschner continued. "Even Barr said he expects to have something, albeit redacted by mid-April."

"Let's just hope that we get a report that is as transparent and as inclusive as the law will allow so as not to compromise ongoing investigations," he said. "But I think continuing to play hide the ball with the information that might otherwise be really damning of the president or others is really not a game anyone should be engaged in at this point."
