Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is preparing to call in some big-name loyalists to former President Donald Trump to testify at the trial of attorneys Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell.
Politico reports that conspiracy-spouting lawyer Lin Wood and longtime Trump adviser Boris Epshteyn are among the many witnesses who are being called by Willis to testify at the trial, which is slated to start later this month.
Other witnesses at the trial will include three men who signed documents that falsely claimed they were certified presidential electors in their states: Greg Safsten of Arizona, Jim DeGraffenreid of Nevada, and Lawrence Tabas of Pennsylvania.
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
Politico says that it's likely that these three witnesses will be used to poke holes in the legal theories that Chesebro was advancing to justify having fake electors step in on January 6th, 2021 to replace the actual state-certified electors who would go on to vote for President Joe Biden.
As for Wood, who under normal circumstances might not be seen as a credible witness given his long history of pushing easily disproven conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, Politico speculates that he is likely there to provide first-hand testimony about a plot to seize voting machines.
"Wood hosted Powell and other allies, like former Trump national security adviser Mike Flynn, at his South Carolina estate, and Willis indicated it was there that Powell drafted a plan to seize Dominion voting machines," the publication writes. "A second witness related to that meeting, Aaron Vick, is also on Willis’ list."
