Fani Willis says wife of man she's accused of having affair with is obstructing Trump case

District Attorney Fani Willis Thursday accused her deputy’s estranged wife of using their divorce to disrupt the Fulton County prosecutor’s election racketeering case against Donald Trump, court records and reports show.
Willis’ response arrived the same day Judge Scott McAfee ordered a Feb. 15 hearing to discuss misconduct claims, tied to the divorce case, that Willis and prosecutor Nathan Wade had an extra marital affair and mishandled public money during the relationship, the Washington Post reports.
Willis’ defense appears in a motion to quash the subpoena summoning her to a pre-divorce trial deposition on Jan. 23, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
“(Joycelyn) Wade is using the legal process to harass and embarrass District Attorney Willis, and in doing so, is obstructing and interfering with an ongoing criminal prosecutions,” the motion reads.
The prosecution — referred to only as an “election interference case” — received a major blow earlier this month when an attorney for Trump’s co-defendant Mike Roman accused Willis of an improper relationship with Wade.

Attorney Ashleigh Merchant did not offer proof to claims that Willis secured Wade a high-paying public position then enjoyed “lavish” trips on the cash he earned as special counsel, the Journal notes.
That lack of evidence didn't stop Trump and Republicanlawmakers from accusing Willis of a crime.
Willis has been ordered to file a written response to these accusations by Feb. 2, about two weeks before the hearing.
