Fani Willis' special prosecutor's hearing vacated after he settles divorce case: report
January 30, 2024
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis may no longer need to testify in her special prosecutor’s divorce case after he reached a temporary settlement with his estranged wife, according to a new report.
Nathan Wade’s settlement negates the need to testify as he and Willis face accusations of an improper romantic relationship, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
The settlement was signed Tuesday by Cobb County Superior Court Judge Henry Thompson, about three weeks after Willis received a subpoena from Joycelyn Wade, the report states.

Willis still faces a motion from lawyer Ashleigh Merchant demanding she be disqualified from prosecuting former President Donald Trump’s election interference case.
Fulton Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee has asked Willis to respond to accusations that Wade paid for vacations with her to California and the Caribbean in a Feb. 15 hearing.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution notes Wade was appointed special prosecutor in November 2021 about the same time he filed for divorce and bills the county “a relatively inexpensive rate” of $250 an hour.
Opponents contend some of this cash paid for the trips he took with Willis.
