Fani Willis' former friend blows apart timeline for romance with Trump prosecutor
February 15, 2024
A former friend of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis testified that the prosecutor's relationship with her colleague Nathan Wade began before she hired him.
Robin Yeartie, who previously worked in the district attorney's office, testified Thursday at a court hearing that Willis began her personal relationship with Wade before he was hired as a special investigator in the election subversion case against Donald Trump and his allies, reported the Associated Press.
Yeartie told the court that she saw Wade and Willis hugging and kissing prior to his hiring in November 2021, and that testimony directly contradicts statements the pair have made about their relationship.

Wade has led the team prosecuting the case since Trump and 18 co-defendants were indicted on racketeering charges in August.
One of those co-defendants, Michael Roman, asked the court to remove Willis and Wade from the case due to their personal relationship, arguing that they had financially benefited from the prosecution — which both prosecutors have denied.
Willis' removal would delay the case, at the very least, and prevent Trump from standing trial before the November election. It could possibly derail the prosecution altogether.
