FBI releases photos and video of Boston Marathon bombing suspects
April 18, 2013 5:32PM ET
At a press conference on Thursday afternoon, the FBI released pictures and video of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing.
FBI special agent Richard DesLauriers asked for the public's help in identifying the two suspects, who were referred to simply as "Suspect 1" and "Suspect 2."
"No bit of information... is too small for us to see," he said. "Each piece moves us forward towards justice."
The federal law enforcement agency has published the pictures online, along with video.
"For more than 100 years, the FBI has relied on the public to be its eyes and ears," DesLauriers added. "With the media's help, within an instant these images will be delivered directly into the hands of millions around the world. We know the public will play a critical role in identifying and locating these individuals. Somebody out there knows these individuals as friends, neighbors, coworkers, or family members of the suspects. Though it may be difficult, the nation is counting on those with information to come forward and provide it to us."
Both of the suspects are young males and were seen on surveillance video carrying backpacks near the spot where the two bombs exploded. They are considered "armed and extremely dangerous."
The explosive devices killed three people and injured 170 others near the Boston Marathon finish line on Monday. The two suspects are believed to have created the bombs using pressure cookers filled with explosives and shrapnel, which were hidden inside backpacks and left on the ground.
