FBI deputy director McCabe planning on retiring after onslaught of GOP attacks: report

The Washington Post is reporting that FBI’s Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is planning on stepping down within the next few months, just as soon as he becomes pension eligible.

As the FBI under attack by members of the Republican Party who are attempting to derail the investigation into the administration of Donald Trump over collusion with the Russians during the 2016 election, McCabe is reportedly looking to exit all the drama.

McCabe came under intense questioning by Republicans in a closed-door meeting this past week, which Democrats characterized as partisan hounding.

The top FBI official has come under harsh scrutiny, particularly since he was considered the right-hand man of former FBI Director James Comey who was fired by President Donald Trump.

According to former FBI administrator, John Pistole, McCabe has "weathered the storm," but the attacks have increased.

“Andy’s in a difficult position now . . . because of the hyperpartisan political environment," he explained. "It’s disappointing to see how the criticism of the FBI is being used to try to undermine the credibility of the Mueller investigation. I think they’ve figured out they can’t undermine Bob’s integrity, so they’re just going to go after whoever they can dig up any dirt on."
