Federal judge rules BuzzFeed innocent after publishing salacious Steele Dossier

A federal judge in Florida ruled for BuzzFeed in a defamation lawsuit that arose after they were the first publication to publish the salacious Steele Dossier on Donald Trump.

The private report was authored by the former head of the Russia department at British intelligence MI6, Christopher Steele.

Steele went into hiding after the dossier was published.

The lawsuit was filed by Aleksej Gubarev, a Russian mentioned in the document.

Beyond the so-called "golden showers" allegations, the dossier also made nine explosive claims on Trump-Russia collusion.

Court documents revealed that Steele gave a copy of the dossier to Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger and Speaker Paul Ryan's chief of staff Jonathan Burks. Ryan's office parsed words in a statement about it.

"Burks has never met Christopher Steele nor received any document directly from him. However, he was aware of it and had read the dossier prior to its publication," the statement said.
