Florida deputy accused of keeping woman out of jail in return for oral sex

A Florida sheriff’s deputy was arrested Monday after he was accused of allowing a woman to avoid arrest in exchange for oral sex.

Ted Arboleda, a Broward County sheriff’s deputy, was charged with unlawful compensation or reward for official behavior, a second-degree felony, reported the Sun Sentinel.

Detectives said the 32-year-old Arboleda began talking with a woman July 13, 2013, at a Dania Beach gas station, and he eventually determined the woman did not have a valid Florida driver’s license and had some marijuana and an unlabeled bottle of prescription medication.

The woman told Arboleda she was on felony probation and offered him money so he would not arrest her, the newspaper reported.

Arboleda did not take the money but returned the woman’s drugs and gave her a ride home, police said.

The woman offered him oral sex inside her house, investigators said, and Arboleda accepted.

The deputy told the woman afterward that he couldn’t believe he agreed to her offer and told her not to tell anyone about what happened, the newspaper reported, and he left without arresting her.

The woman’s boyfriend called the sheriff’s office later that day to report the allegations, and detectives began an investigation.

Arboleda, a three-year veteran with the sheriff’s office, was placed on administrative leave Aug. 19 and has since been suspended without pay.

Detectives believe, despite what Arboleda told the woman, that he might have done this before.
