Florida man arrested for threatening to lynch NAACP president

A Gainesville, Florida man has been taken into custody after allegedly threatening to lynch the president of a local NAACP chapter.

As reported by the Palm Beach Post, 75-year-old Ronald Morris Wadford was arrested on Thursday on two counts of aggravated stalking, according to court documents.

The report states that Wadford is listed as homeless and that he reportedly has called NAACP President Evelyn Foxx six times between Nov. 9, 2016, to Nov. 21, 2016. The report notes that Wadford added that he was a member of the Ku Klux Klan and warned he was coming to her house to lynch her.

In the court filing, Wadford is quoted as saying, “I’m going to hang your (racist slur) ass.”

Police state that Foxx was forced to move out of state out of fear for her life, and that when returned she lived at a different address to avoid Wadford.

Wadford has an extensive criminal history compiled in five different states, including, multiple counts of cocaine and narcotics possessions and sales, weapons possession and “maiming.”

A witness said that the homeless man also maintained an extensive arsenal of knives and machetes and has spoken about “going out in a blaze of glory.”

Wadford is currently being held, with his bail set at $500,000.
