Fox anchor insults 'stupid' Matt Damon on live TV: 'Give up all' your money for backing gun control

Rick D'Amico, a local Fox anchor for Phoenix's KSAZ, lashed out at actor Matt Damon for praising Australia's efforts to control gun violence.

On the Arizona Morning broadcast, D'Amico noted that Democrats were returning to Congress for the first time since their gun legislation sit-in last week.

Co-host Andrea Robinson pointed out that "some are criticizing" Matt Damon for telling an Australia media outlet that he preferred Australian-style gun control.

"It’s wonderful what Australia did because you guys haven’t had a mass shooting since you went, ‘No, we’re going to be sensible about this.’ And nobody’s rights have been infringed, you guys are fine,” Damon told Stuff. “I wish we could be sensible like that but I don’t think that’s going to happen in my lifetime.”

"Actually he was calling for all guns to be confiscated in the United States like they did in Australia," D'Amico complained. "I would like to see -- I would listen to him if he were willing to give up all the money he's made in Hollywood promoting guns in his movies."

"Some people are calling him a hypocrite," Robinson agreed.

"There you go," D'Amico continued. "We've said a number of times, you interview these Hollywood stars and you respect them for their talent on the screen or whatever."

The anchor added: "But their personal lives, many of them -- and we've learned this -- many of them have nothing to say and/or are stupid."

"Yeah," Robinson said.

"They sing, they dance, but outside of that [they have mental problems]," D'Amico quipped. "There's just nothing there."

"The way they think on morals, values, ethics is so detached," Robinson opined. "You wonder where does that even come from?"

The morning show hosts then moved on to a story promoting concealed handgun classes for women at Scottsdale Gun Club, which has a history with D'Amico.

"I just love knowing I can handle a gun and protect myself," one gun club customer told the station. "I think it's really important for women to be able to do that.
