Fox & Friends guest says carbon dioxide can't be pollution because 'we exhale it'

A guest on "Fox & Friends" Tuesday attacked Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke for claiming that carbon dioxide contributes to climate change on the grounds that humans exhale CO2.

During an interview with Fox's Jedediah Bila, guest Marc Morano suggested that concerns about pumping too much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere are overblown because humans emit the gas as part of our everyday breathing.

"Humans, we inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide," he said. "So he's calling CO2 pollution, which it's not."

In reality, humans can be poisoned by carbon dioxide if it they inhale it at high concentrations in enclosed spaces. Additionally, the vast majority of scientists now believe that an excess of carbon dioxide in Earth's atmosphere is the primary cause of warming global temperatures.
