Fox News getting 'woke' with Muslim prayer rugs and trans policies -- and employees 'are terrified': report
May 18, 2018
When Oliver North departed Fox News to helm the National Rifle Association, his old office was converted into a meditation room—filled with Muslim prayer rugs, Vanity Fairreports.
That's one of the many ways the network is starting to become "woke," as the Murdochs work to distance the company from the sexism and racism that cost them millions of dollars in lawsuits under the leadership of Roger Ailes, who was fired for harassment in 2016.
The network has also placed its first woman CEO, Suzanne Scott, in charge—although there are allegations that Scott helped perpetuate Fox's culture of sexism under Ailes. Another female Fox news executive has been placed on leave after being named in a number of sexual harassment lawsuits, according to CNN.
Other changes include comprehensive sexual harassment training, a workforce and diversity council, and guidelines on gender-transition.
“People are terrified. They kicked Ollie North out and put in a prayer room. We’ve got a new trans policy. You’re not allowed to be transphobic,” a source toldVanity Fair.
“People’s heads are blowing up,” another said.
