Fox News pundit: Some Trump supporters do want to 'make America white again'

A Fox News pundit didn't hold back when blasting some of the president's more .

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum once said of his GOP opponent that he might not be a racist but that "racists think he's a racist." The same philosophy could be applied to President Donald Trump's cadre of MAGA-hat-wearing supporters that eagerly promote white supremacy.

Professional wrestler Tyrus said that the president needs to be much better on race relations, though he said Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) had gone too far by accusing Trump of being the “grand wizard” of the White House.

"I think President Trump needs to be better on racial things, 100 percent," Tyrus said. "I would have liked him to come out and say something about Steve King's racist comments, it would be a great thing if he had said something. And it bothers me."

He noted that the slogan "Make America Great Again" is nothing more than a political slogan and not a very original one at that.

"It was used before, Ronald Reagan used it before," Tyrus continued. "It was about railing America and making it great. Unfortunately, I would say 10 percent of the population that voted for President Trump has a different view. They have embraced it as 'Make America White Again.' Unfortunately, due to the particular group that takes something that was used about galvanizing America has turned it into something ugly."

But he blamed it primarily on the media, saying cable news and Twitter accelerates things and "makes it racist."

Other Fox News pundits, all of which were white, disagreed, saying that the criticism is unfair because Trump passed criminal justice reform.

"I disagree with you. The words are strong. I think they were inappropriate," Tyrus said of Jeffries. "But you have to call him out on some things. Just keeping it real. Sometimes it's hard to defend supporting the White House when things happen when he needs to speak and be a leader for everybody. I don't think he always does that."
