Fox News segment attacking Pelosi falls apart after prominent conservative says a blue wave is basically inevitable

A Fox News panel that was intended to discuss the problems that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was allegedly causing for the Democratic Party turned into a conversation about Republicans’ facing a massive defeat in November.

Fox News host Bill Hemmer started the discussion Friday morning by stating that Democrats had a "Pelosi problem" which was "weighing" them down.

“Look, I think Nancy Pelosi should have gone a long time ago. I do think she is a problem with Democrats. You wouldn't have many Democrats saying they won’t vote for her [as Speaker of the House], not answering the question," said National Review senior editor Jonah Goldberg.

"But that actually cuts both ways. This actually lets a lot of Democrats ... in purple-ish districts say, 'Hey, look, I’m not part of those guys.'"

"We saw that in Ohio," Hemmer interjected. "Didn't we?"

"Look how close that was," Goldberg replied." That should not have been a close race. In a lot of ways, I think the blue wave as already happened. When you have, what, 41 retirements – and historically, open seats go to the party out of power wildly disproportionally. So I think the Democrats take back the House."

Emily Tisch Sussman of Glam Up The Midterms and Vote Vets later added that the GOP's attacks on Pelosi showed they were desperate.

"If that is the best you can do -- it is trying to bait people to elections," she said, "because they know Republicans are not energized by where the party is right now."
