Major cyberattack hits Fulton County amid Trump prosecution

The Georgia county whose district attorney is prosecuting former President Donald Trump and his allies on racketeering charges has experienced a major cyberattack Tuesday.

The Messenger reports that Fulton County this week got hit with an attack that has knocked out multiple online services, including access to court records and tax documents.

Although there is no indication yet that the attack is politically motivated, The Messenger notes that it is affecting Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis' office.

Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robb Pitts told reporters that the cyberattack "has been reported to law enforcement and is under active investigation."

Willis last year indicted Trump and several of his associates, alleging that they engaged in a conspiracy to illegally overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election that cited, among other pieces of evidence, the "fake electors" scheme whereby the Trump campaign organized alternate slates of electors to send to Congress on January 6th, 2021; unauthorized access of voting systems; and Trump's infamous call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger where he asked to "find" the nearly 12,000 votes he would need to overtake President Joe Biden's lead.
