(Reuters) - An explosion at a gas line or gas plant about 80 miles north of New Orleans knocked out power to about 10,000 customers on Tuesday, according to local reports.
The explosion occurred in the town of Enon, according to the reports. The sheriff's office in Washington Parish said its officers and other first responders were on the scene of the explosion.
The dispatchers at the sheriff's office gave no details, including whether there were any injuries.
According to local media, Florida Gas owns the pipeline and shut down the gas line. Officials at Florida Gas were not immediately available for comment.
The explosion caused about 10,000 power outages for the Washington-Street Tammany Electric Cooperative in Louisiana, which serves the area.
A representative at the electric co-op said power to all or most of the customers were restored.
