'See you in court': GOP claims 'blatant violation' of election law in key Dem heavy county

Republicans in the battleground state of Georgia are vowing another election-related lawsuit, accusing Fulton County of violating state laws by opening more election offices "to accommodate voters seeking to hand-return their absentee ballots."

Fulton County officials said Friday that four election offices will be opened throughout the weekend to accommodate voters who want to return their absentee ballots by hand.

The Georgia Republican Party seized on the announcement Friday, calling it a "blatant violation" of state law that states "all drop boxes shall be closed when the advance voting period ends."

"This must be stopped immediately and those willfully breaking Georgia law should be held accountable," the party said.

The GOP added that the election office locations are in Democratic-leaning areas. President Joe Biden won the county with 72% of the vote in 2020 — about 380,000 votes.

"We are calling on state officials to take immediate action to stop this and maintain confidence in Georgia's election integrity," the GOP said. It added: "Fulton County's patently illegal acts give us no choice but to immediately file suit."

James Blair, political director of the Trump 2024 campaign and Republican National Committee, wrote on X: "See you in court Fulton County."

The lawsuit comes after a report that states such as Georgia could see "ghost town" polling sites amid a surge in early voting.
