'Get tough!' Ex-federal prosecutor tells Dems to stop getting 'strung along' by Trump White House

Former federal prosecutor Elie Honig on Monday urged Congressional Democrats to get tough and stop letting themselves get rolled over by a White House that has no intention of letting them conduct oversight.

While discussing the White House's latest efforts to block both special counsel Robert Mueller and former White House counsel Don McGahn from testifying before Congress, Honig said that Democrats need to wake up to stop the White House from simply running out the clock on their requests.

"Time is of the essence," he said. "I think Congress needs to get tough. They need to first of all stop getting strung along and slow played with all these protracted negotiations."

Honig then argued that the White House so far has shown no willingness to even give an inch when it comes to congressional requests, which means that they have to go right to the Supreme Court to force the White House to comply with their requests.

"If I was an attorney for the Dems in congress, I would think about trying to use that route because otherwise this is going to drag out forever," he said.
