GOP analyst Rick Wilson flattens Trump after his rambling Fox News interview: He's a 'terrified old man'

Appearing on MSNBC with host Ali Velshi, GOP consultant and frequent Donald Trump critic Rick Wilson surveyed damage done to the president this past week, and compared the president's response to "a terrified old man."

Following the Fox News interview with host Ainsley Earnhardt, where Trump lashed out in multiple directions, Wilson -- who is out pushing his book, 'Everything  Trump Touches Dies' -- was asked what he made of Trump's terrible week.

After watching a Fox clip of Trump giving himself a grade of A-plus for his performance so far, Wilson quipped that he personally would not grade the president that high.

"The best I'll give him, Ali, is a participation trophy," Wilson stated. "Donald Trump is a great self-promoter but there is a level of self-delusion from this guy that defies comedy."

"Look," he continued. "Introspection is not Donald Trump's strong point, and unfortunately, when you're the president of the United States you need to be able to look at the broader picture beyond your self-interest, your own ego, your own needs and make judgments about your leadership. And if you think you've only gotten gold stars and only gotten A-pluses, you're not going to change anything."

"I think there are a majority of Americans who are certainly concerned about Donald Trump's leadership on a whole variety of fronts," he continued. "Yes, the folks that support him think he can do no wrong, but the rest of America is worried that this is a guy who is not terribly stable."

Pointing to Trump's middle of the night all-cap tweet about "No collusion," Wilson called the president out.

"Waking up in the middle of the night to tweet in all caps is not a sign of confident leadership -- it's a sign of a terrified old man who feels the walls closing in," he remarked. "He's basically a bluffer and he'll try to double down on this "I'm perfect and the rest of you are lying' theory in regards to the cases."
