GOP 'extremism is scaring the hell out of Americans': MSNBC's Morning Joe drops the hammer on his former party

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough warned that Republican overreach in Alabama and other states that have passed strict limits on abortion would doom their election chances next year.

The "Morning Joe" host argued those laws would energize the Democratic base and turn away independents who support reproductive rights, and he said even most Republicans disagree with those laws passed by GOP state legislatures.

"Republicans have snatched defeat out of the jaws of political victory and have gone the other way," he said, "and their extremism is scaring the hell out of a lot of Americans who might even be pro-life and, you know, those educated, suburban, Republican women that started to move away from the Republican Party, they’re in a full-out sprint now."
