GOP Senator panics as Trump again tries to kill Obamacare: 'I want nothing to do with this!'

President Donald Trump's insistence on once again trying to completely repeal the Affordable Care Act is causing a fresh wave of anxiety among some Republican senators.

Speaking with Politico, one anonymous GOP senator sounded positively morose about the Trump administration trying to get the entire ACA overturned by a court without having any plan in place for a fallback.

"I want nothing to do with this," said the senator, who was described by Politico as "scarred" from the GOP's multiple failed efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Senate Republicans until Tuesday had absolutely no intention of wading back into the debate over Obamacare, especially since Democrats control the House of Representatives and would not pass any legislation that would undermine the popular provisions in the ACA.

The Daily Beast similarly reports that GOP lawmakers and operatives are not happy that Trump again wants to take a crack and bringing down Obamacare despite multiple failed attempts by the GOP over the past two years.

Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) told the Daily Beast that Trump didn't present Republicans with any kind of alternative health care plan, and he said that it would be unwise to assume that courts would simply overturn the entire law.

“I don’t think you can really rethink health care until you know for sure whether Obamacare continues to be part of it or not, and I think we’re ahead of ourselves to assume that the court would say that Obamacare is somehow no longer there," he said.
