GOP strategist slams Republicans for playing along with Trump’s voter fraud lies: ‘Nobody’s changing their clothes like Batman’

Republicans were lectured on national TV for failing to call out President Donald Trump's "ridiculous" claims of voter fraud -- by a former GOP congressional candidate.

"The president spoke with The Daily Caller about the midterms and made an unsubstantiated claim," MSNBC's Alex Witt noted. "He said 'the Republicans don't win and that's because of potentially illegal votes, when people get in line and have absolutely no right to go vote, they go in circles, perhaps go to their car, put on a different hat, a different shirt, come in and vote again.'"

"Do you think the president really believes that?" Witt asked Republican strategist Noelle Nikpour.

Nikpour was tongue-tied trying do defend Trump's unsubstantiated allegation.

But Sophia Nelson, a former Republican counsel for the House Oversight Committee and GOP congressional candidate, powerful called out Trump's lie.

"You know what's shady?" she asked. "The president of the United States making up something that freaking ridiculous -- excuse my mouth on national TV -- that's why shady," she replied.

"And I am disappointed in Republicans when they don't say, 'Mr. President, that is wrong,'" Nelson scolded. "Nobody's getting in their car and changing their outfit like Batman, that's just ridiculous."
