Gunman kills 5 in Bakersfield, California mass shooting before turning the gun on himself

Officers and first responders raced to respond to the scene of a mass shooting Wednesday evening.

The scene began at a Bakersfield trucking company and appeared to be related to domestic issues.

Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood told Bakersfield.com that six people are dead, including the gunman and his wife.

The gunman reportedly entered the company at 5:30 p.m. and confronted another man nearby. He then shot the man before turning it on his wife. The gunman then shot a third person who approached the situation.

The gunman then went to a nearby residence and killed two residents, stole a vehicle with a woman in child in it, though they later managed to escape.

When deputies pulled the suspect over, the man shot himself in the chest.
