'He got confused': Nikki Haley hits Trump for claiming she didn't secure Capitol on Jan. 6
January 20, 2024
Nikki Haley on Saturday broke her silence regarding Donald Trump's false claim that she failed to protect the Capitol on Jan. 6.
Haley, who experts suggest has handled the former president with kid gloves, used the moment to highlight other instances in which Trump has purportedly been "confused."
In her response, Haley says Trump was having a "temper tantrum" about her before wrongly claiming that she kept the police from going into the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
"He went on and repeated that I didn't do anything to secure the Capitol," the politician said.
She then continued, saying, "Let's be clear. I wasn't in the Capitol on January 6. I wasn't in office on January 6."
"He mentioned it three times. He got confused," Haley said Saturday.

She then brought up another instance of Trump making a similar mistake.
"He got confused and said he was running against Obama. He never ran against Obama."
She added that to greenlight Trump as the president again would be accepting a "risk."
"Don't put our country at risk like this," Haley says, adding that it's "not personal."
"I have nothing personal against Donald Trump," she said Saturday, adding that it is personal when it involves her children.
"I don't want them living like this," she said.
