What happened the day Trump started tweeting — and just never stopped

President Donald Trump set a personal record on Aug. 29, when he unleashed 22 tweets on a dizzying range of topics.

He kicked off his prolific performance 11 minutes after midnight with a complaint against the FBI and Department of Justice, and he finished the tweet storm nearly 22 hours later by promoting a Breitbart article about Kanye West, reported Politico Magazine.

Trump has tweeted 21 or 20 times on a handful of days, but that single-day performance -- which came three days after the death of Sen. John McCain -- set a new standard.

The president had only three events listed on his public schedule, including a late-morning intelligence briefing, an announcement of a federal grant for “drug free communities” in the afternoon, and a reception with his wife for the White House Historical Association in the evening.

His tweets suggest Trump spent much of the day watching Fox News, both live and previously recorded, and commenting on what he saw.

"He lurched discursively from boast to grievance to invective in a manner unfocused even by the standards of his notoriously short attention span," Politico reported. “'Our country is doing great!,' he beamed at 10:56 a.m. 'How the hell is Bruce Ohr still employed at the Justice Department?,' he glowered just 15 minutes later."

He later confirmed the resignation of White House counsel Don McGahn, and then promoted a video claiming that Google had intentionally refused to promote his State of the Union Address to the same degree as Barack Obama's.
