At least five historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) were reportedly locked down after receiving threats the day after MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk was murdered.
Alabama State University, Clark Atlanta University, Virginia State University, Hampton University, and Southern University Baton Rouge all notified students and faculty of the threats on Thursday.
Alabama State University announced that the campus was closed for the remainder of the day and that students should shelter in place. Clark Atlanta University also advised students to shelter in place.
Similar alerts were issued by Southern University Baton Rouge, Virginia State University, and Hampton University.
