Here are the top 5 Democrats who are about to make Trump’s life miserable in 2019

CNN on Tuesday named the top five Democrats they expect will make President Donald Trump miserable in 2019.

Massachusetts' Richard Neal, incoming chair of the Ways and Means Committee, has the authority to subpoena Trump's tax returns, which the president has jealousy protected since he became a candidate. Neal is expected to exercise that power, said CNN political reporter Lauren Fox.

"You can expect a protracted legal battle between the House of Representatives and the president of the United States when it comes to something Trump hasn't wanted to turn over before," she said. "He's not the only person that's going to be looking into the president's finances."

Fox named California's Maxine Waters, who will lead the House Financial Services Committee, as Trump's next biggest threat.

"She's tangled with President Trump in the past," Fox said of Waters, who she added is "beloved" by the party faithful. "She has said in the past that she thinks President Trump should be impeached, so she is going to be somebody at the forefront of this fight to do oversight into the trump administration."

As chair of the House Oversight Committee, Fox said Maryland's Elijah Cummings had "the most jurisdiction" to investigate Trump.

"His committee can look into everything from immigration to security clearances on Capitol Hill or at the White House," she said. "He told me that he expects to bring in a wide variety of cabinet secretaries before his committee, including Wilbur Ross" who has been strongly criticized for adding citizenship questions to the U.S. Census.

She also named Adam Schiff (D-CA), of the House Intelligence Committee, as a problem for the president when it comes to Russia.

"He thinks Republicans haven't answered enough questions," Fox said. Schiff, she added, "wants to bring in folks like Michael Flynn before his committee."

Finally, she predicted New York's Jerry Nadler, chair of the House Judiciary Committee, would give Trump particular heartburn.

"His sole focus is going to be protecting the Mueller investigation," Fox said. "He is the person who is going to be leading any impeachment effort."
