'He's too big to fail': Senior source involved in Brett Kavanaugh confirmation claims 'we're gonna make them f*cking vote'

One source involved in Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court confirmation hearing said that there no chance the White House or the GOP will let up in their fight for confirmation.

In a Sunday story, Axios revealed that at least one person involved in Kavanaugh's confirmation thinks he's "too big to fail."

"There's nowhere to go. We're gonna make them f*ckinging vote," the source said. "[Joe] Manchin in West Virginia, in those red states. Joe Donnelly? He said he's a no? Fine, we'll see how that goes. There will be a vote on him [Kavanaugh]. ... It will be a slugfest of a week."

Given the enthusiasm from women this election, pressure for Republicans to vote on Kavanaugh might not be helpful for the party's branding. Republican female support for Kavanaugh dropped 18 percent prior to testimony being heard from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.

"There's no time before the [midterm] election to put up a new person," one White House official said.

Trump has already said he doesn't "need" a backup plan when it comes to a second consideration for the seat.

Axios reported that sources close to the White House legal team shepherding Kavanaugh through said they can't guarantee any male nominee wouldn't have the "Kavanaugh problem." Neil Gorsuch, the justice confirmed in place of Merrick Garland went to the same school as Kavanaugh, but didn't have the same experience nor were there allegations.

"You nominate any man and how do you guarantee ... How do you vet for that?" the source said. "For an accusation that's 36 years old? You can't."

It's unclear if the source or anyone in the White House has considered nominating a woman to sit on the court.
