HHS Sec. Tom Price has charged taxpayers over $1 million in private and military planes since May: report

Already under fire for chartering private jets for government business that costed taxpayers more than $400,000, a new Politico report reveals that Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price spent an additional total of over $500,000 on military flights to Europe, Africa and Asia.

"The overseas trips bring the total cost to taxpayers of Price’s travels to more than $1 million since May," the report reveals.

Earlier in the day, Price announced he would be paying back the Treasury for "his seats" on chartered flights -- a total just under $52,000, which is a fraction of his domestic chartered flights.

The White House approved Price's use of military jets to Geneva, Berlin, Beijing, Ho Chi Minh City, Tokyo and the former American colony of Liberia in West Africa. His wife Betty joined him on many of these trips (mostly for health conferences) "while other members of the secretary’s delegation flew commercially."
