Hillary Clinton fires back at Trump: 'His bigotry, his bullying has become his campaign'

Democratic Party presidential candidate Hillary Clinton responded to Donald Trump's latest insults against her by telling the Des Moines Register that nothing really surprises her anymore about the Republican front-runner.

"I don't know that he has any boundaries anymore," she said in footage posted on Wednesday. "His bigotry, his bluster, his bullying has become his campaign. He has to keep sort of upping the stakes and going even further."

Trump has attempted to argue that his use of a term earlier this week referencing male genitalia to describe Clinton's 2008 primary loss to President Barack Obama is an accepted political term. But as The Daily Beast reported, that is not true.

The real estate mogul also said it was "disgusting" that Clinton had to use the bathroom during last weekend's Democratic primary debate, but Clinton refused to say whether she felt the insult was based on her gender.

"I don't respond to him personally," she said. "He thrives on that kind of exchange. I think he has to answer for what he says, and I assume that others will make the larger point."

Trump has also accused Clinton's campaign of staging an encounter between the former secretary of state and 10-year-old Hannah Tandy during an event in Keota, Iowa on Tuesday.

The girl joined Clinton on stage and asked what she would do if elected to address bullying, telling the candidate that she overheard classmates making fun of her for having asthma. Clinton responded in part by saying, "It's important to stand up to bullies wherever they are, and why we shouldn't let anybody bully his way into the presidency, because that is not who we are as Americans."

On Wednesday, Trump called the encounter "pathetic" on his Twitter account, telling Clinton, "Be careful Hillary as you play the war on women or women being degraded card."

Tandy's mother, Lexie Tandy, told the Register that she did not know the girl would get to ask Clinton a question during the event. She also sent a warning of her own to the real estate mogul.

"I don't want to get in a big match-up with Donald Trump, but let me tell you, I will be in one if he makes comments about my daughter," Tandy said. "She's 10. She's just a little girl."
