'Hostage situation': CNN's Symone Sanders schools Trumper David Urban in table-pounding lecture on Trump's negotiating skills

With the federal government shutdown dragging on, polls show that most Americans oppose a wall but also favor passing a budget with wall funding if it gets the government re-opened.

On Thursday, a panel hosted by CNN anchor Jake Tapper discussed the "hostage situation" arising from President Donald Trump demanding that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi fund his proposed wall.

A fiery exchange erupted between Trump strategist David Urban and Democratic strategist Symone Sanders.

The reality for Democrats on the hill is if you capitulate and cave to President Trump's border wall... he is literally holding the lives of 800,000 plus people in limbo over his border wall, he now has the leverage every single time," said Sanders.

"There it is, America," said Urban. "So don't give an inch. Don't give an inch."

"Unfortunately, this is what Democrats are up against," said Sanders.

"It's not caving. It's called negotiating," said Urban.

"This is not a negotiation!" said Sanders, pounding the table for emphasis. "Jesus!"
