House Oversight Committee responds to FBI probe of Clinton emails: Release more information

On Friday, FBI director James Comey announced the agency was reopening its investigation into Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's emails after finding emails pertinent to their prior investigation while working on another case.

Comey wrote to Congress, "In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation."

Democratic ranking members of the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees wrote in a letter on Friday evening that the FBI should release more information on the emails and their investigation.

"We are writing to request that the FBI and Department of Justice issue a more complete accounting of the details behind this letter, based on information from your career investigators and prosecutors, in order to debunk these conspiracy theories and correct the public record," the letter reads.

According to Cameron Joseph at the New York Daily News, Congressman Jason Chaffetz and the House Oversight Committee are discussing holding a pre-election hearing next Friday and bringing in Comey.
