Hundreds wait to vote in Georgia after voting machines break down at Gwinnett County polling place

Hundreds of voters are reportedly waiting to vote at one Georgia polling place due to a technical issue with voting machines.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that election officials in Gwinnett County have confirmed that the machines are down at Anderson-Livsey Elementary School.

"The line of hundreds of waiting voters stretched the entire length of the school," the paper noted.

Gwinnett County spokesman Joe Sorenson said that new machines would have to be brought in. Voters will be able to cast paper ballots until machine voting is restored, Sorenson explained.

"Gwinnett -- long a Republican stronghold but rapidly shifting left -- is expected to be a battleground in races that will determine everything from the governor’s mansion to local commission seats," according to the paper.
