Republicans move to subpoena Hunter Biden prosecutor for impeachment probe: report
November 21, 2023
House Republicans are moving to subpoena a key prosecutor in the Hunter Biden investigation, as part of their impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, reported Politico on Tuesday.
"The House Judiciary Committee, helmed by Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) subpoenaed Lesley Wolf — a prosecutor in the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s Office — on Tuesday. The panel is investigating allegations of political interference in the federal investigation into Hunter Biden," reported Betsy Woodruff Swan. "Two IRS agents who worked on the Justice Department’s investigation into the president’s son have accused Wolf of stymieing their efforts to fully investigate the Biden family. They also told lawmakers she directed investigators to remove a reference to Joe Biden from a search warrant and that she blocked the team from searching his home."

Hunter Biden faces charges of tax violations and of unlawfully purchasing a firearm when he was ineligible due to drug use. He had previously reached a plea deal with prosecutors, but that deal collapsed over disagreements about future prosecutions.
Republicans have tried to base their impeachment investigation of the president on the idea that he laundered foreign bribes through his son's international business dealings. Some evidence exists that Hunter Biden has tried to use his family name for financial gain, but to date no evidence has emerged indicating President Biden was involved or even more than cursorily aware of those deals.
Indeed, even the GOP's own witnesses in hearings on the matter have failed to back this up, with Devon Archer, an associate of Hunter Biden's, testifying that while the president and his son talked frequently, they never discussed the latter's businesses and the calls were that of a concerned father checking in on a son struggling with substance abuse.
Despite the ongoing lack of evidence or even a well-formulated high crime they could charge him with, Republican sources have suggested that the GOP caucus wants to move forward with a vote on Biden impeachment, although it is unclear they even have the votes to do it.
