‘I wake up every day and have to apologize’: The View's conservative sickened by Trump speech to Boy Scouts

Conservative co-host of "The View," Jedediah Bila lamented that despite not voting for President Donald Trump, she still feels like she has to apologize for him.

During a discussion following Trump's controversial speech to the Boy Scouts of America, Bila complained that as a conservative she spends a lot of time apologizing for a fellow conservative.

"I feel like I wake up every day and have to apologize for him," she told her fellow co-hosts.

"He couldn't let it just be a National Scout Jamboree," said co-host Whoopi Goldberg, noting Trump's need to make the speech about himself and not the scouts themselves.

Trump's speech attacked former President Barack Obama as well as Hillary Clinton and the GOP. He led the crowd of scouts in booing Obama, who is a former Boy Scout.

"Well, he's obsessed, still, with Obama and Hillary Clinton and everything but trying to do something in the office," co-host Joy Behar noted.

Co-host Sara Haines, whose grandfather was awarded the Silver Beaver after 50 years of service to the Scouts, explained that the organization is about service with a motto of "be prepared." None of the things the scouts uphold were discussed by Trump.

"Either you own what the platform is for, which is setting an example, which in this moment, you are a role model. Whether you view the presidency as that or not is another issue. But it just seemed he didn't prepare himself for the audience he was speaking to," Haines explained. "This was not the place to throw down politics. This is not a group to campaign to. These are Boy Scouts. These are future leaders of our country."

Behar brought up Trump's need to talk about his ratings compared to Arnold Schwarzenegger's ratings during the National Prayer Breakfast.

"This is a man who talks about himself wherever he goes," Behar said.

The Boy Scouts issued a statement on Trump's speech, but it was not received well by many who called it a cop-out.
