Ivanka Trump didn't say: 'If he wasn't my father, I would spray him with Mace'

Ivanka Trump did not say "if he wasn't my father, I would spray him with Mace," according to Snopes.

Writer and researcher Sarah Kendzior unearthed a comment attributed to Ivanka Trump in Aug. 2006 in the "Quotables" section of The Chicago Tribune: "'If he wasn't my father, I would spray him with Mace.' -Ivanka Trump, 24, the daughter of Donald Trump, on her father's complimenting her figure on a talk show and then joking that he would date her if he weren't her father."

"Never saw much reporting on Ivanka's response to Trump saying he wanted to date her," Kendzior tweeted Thursday morning.

However, the quote appears to be from a joke attributed to comedian Conan O'Brien -- and not from Ivanka herself.

"It's clear that the 'Mace' quote did not originate with Ivanka Trump," Snopes concluded.
